Sitka is home to world-class Alaskan Salmon and Halibut fishing. The Alaska Department of Fish & Game ranks Sitka highest in the region in both total catch and catch rate for halibut and King salmon.
The scenery is majestic and the wildlife in Sitka is abundant. On the boat you will likely see bald eagles, puffins, sea otters, whales, and other marine mammals; it’s not uncommon to see a bear or deer walking the beach; this makes for fun boat rides to and from the fishing grounds.
What to Bring:
We recommend that you pack light and try to fit what you need into your carry-on bag. This will especially save money on your return trip by checking your fish boxes as baggage.
The weather here is mild during the summer. We recommend you bring clothes that can be layered so you can remove and add clothes as needed. A sweater and hat are a good idea. A few other things you don’t want to forget are sun screen, sun glasses, and of course your camera!
